Kashi Da
this goes back to my early days of advertising. i just joined and had no idea about how the industry functions (after 15 years still i wonder how). i didnt even know all the departments and their respective roles. i had been asked to take prints of some production estimates and post which i were supposed to get those checked and signed by a senior production manager. i was only week old in the organisation and asked for help from Shoeb, a guy whom i knew a little better. he adviced me to go to production department and look for Mr. Kashidat (his description has been given to me so that i go the right guy). i checked all the estimates couple of more times to ensure that everything is in order. i walked into the production department and figuered out myself where Mr. Kashi's workdesk. He was in his early fifties, grey hair and seemed a man of few words. I walked upto the gentelman and politely asked him "Kashida would you pls sign these estimates". I didnt know what hit me, he turned wild and started abusing me at random and asked me to go ask for such favour from my dad. i was completely zapped by his behaviour and didnt know what went wrong and why was he so upset. he told me that his name is not kashi and wanted to know who had given me the wrong information. i also lost cool and told him that "what is there to get so upset about it". then i turned around to see that all most the whole office is standing at a distance to enjoy the tamasha. i realised Shoeb played a prank. The gentleman's name was Rabindranath Chakroborty and as he used to caugh through out the day, people in the office used to call him "kashi da" (kashi is bengali means caugh) behind his back. but no one had the guts to call him by that name in front of him as he was very abusive by nature. i realised that i hv been bullied. later on i became pally with Robinda. Robinda expired in couple of years due to acute bronchitis he was suffering from, the cause for his relentless caughing.
An attempt to capture funny moments of my work life
other day i was talking to an old friend about a goofup we had done. it was hilarious and made us laugh for weeks post that. we didnt want to share that with too many colleagues caz we were afraid of our reputation at work. come to think about it now, it didnt matter much. and i thought it would be good to start a blog which would capture all such incidents before they fade away from my memory. so is the decision to start this blog. i dont intend to hurt anyone by making these public and my sinsere appologies well in advance just in case...
